Years ago my irrigation system broke, I never fixed it. I don't water my lawn at all. I feel I should get mega points for this. I rely on rainfall. I maintain a yard of what grows naturally. I welcome most weeds except for ones with burrs. I feed my animals mallow, dandelion, wild lettuce, clover, wild mustard and others. The local birds and lizards love my yard and shallow water bowls. I use run off water for my Hawaiian honeysuckle and a few other shrubs. I use a catch bucket in the shower to flush the toilet. During summer I use a catch bucket in the kitchen for rinsing dishes and use that for plants. If I must buy a drink while out and about, I buy a glass container. Most of the time I bring my metal thermos. I stopped drinking from straws decades ago, straws create facial wrinkles. Except for TP, I don't buy paper products. A no-plastic sponge, wipe or towel works just as well. At home, I also use handkerchiefs. I keep a hand towel in the car. All products in this house are non-toxic and fragrance and perfume free. My dish soap and hand soap does not come in plastic bottles. My shampoo and conditioner are bars, no plastic. The ways to save valuable water are endless.
