Waterwise Community Take the Wyland National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation
Water is a free resource, but what are the steps needed to get water to your home? What other resources are needed to ensure you have access to water? Energy? Infrastructure? What are some of the ways smart water use helps the national economy?

Smart water use ensures that the aquifers in my region are not over pumped. There will be water for future generations.

I have been collecting native plant seeds for a few years. That I can recall, I've collected Western Cedar tree, Madrone, Manzanita, purple dead nettle, heals all/ heal self, fireweed, native rose, and twin flower. Tried to get Dogwood but maybe missed my window of opportunity. I've planted some but need to plant more.

I recently found that someone had cut down the rhododendrons on a forest path and saw signs that the area may be logged within a year or so. I took cuttings and dipped them in rooting hormone a couple of weeks ago. If it works, I'll be planting those in and around the community.

I've planted on my property, on the community lake access property and plan to eventually plant on the roadsides to block out the invasive scotch broom plants.

My husband has helped me a lot and I have a new friend in my neighborhood who might like to join in.
