Waterwise Home
Eat A Little Less Meat
I will replace 6 ounces of animal protein with plant-based protein every day.

Waterwise Community
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Waterwise Community
Identify a Local Freshwater Hope Spot using the Wyland Foundation Google Earth Portal
I will show my support for a favorite lake, river, stream, wetland or place along the coast.
Waterwise Home
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water per faucet every day.
Waterwise Home

I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterwise Community Say No to Plastic StrawsHow do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?
Nicholas McCallum 3/26/2024 4:59 PMClimate change will have an extremely negative impact on Southern California's water resources. As time goes on we will experience an increased occurrence and intensity of hazards such as drought, wildfire, groundwater depletion, and by extension, pollution. Sea level rise will negatively impact our shared infrastructure and threaten our existing groundwater aquifers with increasing levels of salinity, rendering them unsuitable for use.
